Volunteer Appreciation-Hans Ocenar
ECCC has had the privilege of working with Hans Ocenar as an exceptional volunteer for five months. Hans began volunteering with ECCC only one month after immigrating to Canada from the Philippines. As a newcomer youth to Calgary, Hans brought with him an impressive set of talents, knowledge and skills that opened up opportunities for him to demonstrate his strong leadership capabilities! Over the past five months Hans has volunteered a remarkable 500 hours with ECCC, tackling every task with abundant energy, enthusiasm, determination and joy. Hans demonstrated a positive attitude and wonderful communication skills in assisting ECCC’s on-going projects. Hans always gave 110% to any task given to him, assisting ECCC with its youth leadership and mentorship program, facilitating a youth focus group to develop a community action plan on domestic violence prevention, community research, administrative work, and support for leadership training programs. Hans even volunteered as a master of ceremonies for a youth poetry competition!
